At Walker Home Construction, we believe in more than just building structures; we’re committed to building strong, vibrant communities. Our core philosophy, “Cultivating Warriors Within Our Community,” drives us to not only excel in construction but also to contribute positively to the lives of those around us.
We aim to grow as a business and a community leader, ensuring that every project we undertake brings value and fosters growth in every aspect.
Walker Home Construction’s vision is to create affordable homes that can adjust to the homeowner’s lifestyles and priorities.
The projects we take on are more than just a source of income - they are ways we connect with Yukon communities and help to bring positive change into their lives. Our Elders have taught us that when you go to someone’s camp you always leave it better than when you showed up. These are the lessons that guide us through every project we work on, and every relationship we have.
Over the years, we’ve built strong relationships with clients, employees, suppliers, and communities across the Yukon, which have been key to our growth. A common need we've identified through these connections is consistency and quality. By offering year-round employment in a typically seasonal industry, we’ve created a dedicated workforce deeply connected to our company and work. Another core value is Connection—we see our projects not just as income sources, but as opportunities to positively impact Yukon communities. Guided by the wisdom of our Elders, we ensure that every project and relationship leaves a lasting, positive change.
We always focus on providing a superior product, and due to the extreme rise in housing costs, we have seen a high demand for our economic housing designs. When we design and build custom homes, we focus on our client’s lifestyles and priorities to give them a home that evolves with their needs as they go through life, understanding that a home is a long-term investment.
In 2022 Walker Home Construction was nominated for and received two national awards: the CANDO economic developer of the year award and the NACCA business developer of the year award. These achievements have helped to create opportunities with multiple local first nation governments and development corporations as well as CMHC and other external partners.
